Prescription Delivery

Bulk collection of medication and delivery to Uffington Shop from the White Horse Medical Practice in Faringdon will recommence on Monday 6 July. Shrivenham's ELm Tree Surgery will continue to deliver to the shop as usual. Some residents may not wish to do this themselves, so if you do pick up a package on behalf of someone else, you are able to sign on the patient’s behalf when you collect it from the Shop. Please sign at that point with a legible signature. The name and address of the patient will be on the packet.

Shielding

Many of you will have people in the Shielding programme in your areas. The government has updated its guidance for people who are shielding, taking into account that coronavirus COVID-19 infection rates have decreased significantly over the last few weeks. There are a series of steps for further relaxing shielding guidance, which will come into effect on 6 July and 1 August, and will be kept under regular review.

This guidance remains advisory, and is for people including children who are clinically extremely vulnerable. It’s also for their family, friends and carers. It can be accessed here:

COVID-19: guidance on shielding and protecting people defined on medical grounds as extremely vulnerable

People who are shielding remain vulnerable and should continue to take precautions but may now choose to leave their home, as long as they are able to maintain strict social distancing. If you choose to spend time outdoors, you may do so with members of your own household. If you live alone, you can spend time outdoors with one person from another household. Ideally, this should be the same person each time. If you do go out, you should take extra care to minimise contact with others by keeping 2 metres apart.

Data Protection - widening of data sharing

The current crisis has caused the Government and Information Commissioner to re-assess the data protection rules in order to allow those helping to share information to support efforts in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19) - even if some of this data would normally have been too sensitive for wider sharing. This relaxation of the rules will give us access to additional data which can assist us in monitoring the local situation and helping to deliver the best support we can.

We have not yet received any information from OCC or the Vale but are hoping they will provide additional information on those most vulnerable so that we can ensure we have oversight of them and know we have not missed anyone.

In the meantime we have tightened up our data protection measures by password protecting certain data and, whilst recognising that volunteers may use a variety of electronic devices to access information, would ask that all volunteers follow best practise possible and do  not share information except to those that need it to carry out their volunteer roles.
