We are a friendly ladies group of mixed ages who get together on a monthly basis to enjoy a social evening and make new friends over a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit. Please feel free to join us and take advantage of a varied range of guest speakers who share their knowledge & experiences with us.
Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the Thomas Hughes Memorial Hall in Uffington. During July & August we do break with tradition for the ‘Open Meeting’ and the ‘Garden Party’. Our notices give details prior to those months.
As well as meeting friends and making new ones, we are generally entertained by a fascinating speaker. In addition, there are walks, craft afternoons, outings, lectures, quizzes, workshops, campaigning on national issues, fund-raising activities and parties.
In addition to our own organised activities members can take advantage of the varied trips, talks and activities organised by the Oxfordshire Federation of W.I. groups. Membership fee for this year (2016) is £37.50.and this includes a free ‘News & Views‘ magazine plus the 'W.I. Life' magazine which is of national distribution for members and covers many interesting topics.
Although the WI is an organisation for women, we don’t like the men folk of the villages to feel left out so have at least one open meeting each year when we hope many of them will join us. They are usually included in theatre visits and other outings too.
UBW WI is a great group to belong to and we would love the opportunity of showing what a friendly and fun group we are. You are most welcome to come along as our guest to see if we are what you are looking for. Maybe you have some new ideas of your own that you would like to share with us. We are always happy to try out other interests that our members are involved in. Why not come with a friend or contact me and I will arrange for a member to bring you along with them.
